The real time determines your real life.
No matter where you want to spend it:  In virtual space or in three-dimensional space. If you lost your time in the internet, so a part of your real life is gone! But if you decided to use virtual space to your expression, It means there were some reasons of that, isn't it? What are the reasons and what the form will be more appropriate for your aims? Then there is also question what is better: to be incognito or not.  ::)
Then a completly different reasons based on the psychologically conditions and needs are following a decision to be anonimous. There can be desires to be like somebody other (Oh, your fantasy! - please, why not? It's a play!), can be expressed your thought over the fear to be rejected or be misunderstood. there is maybe desire to openly told something, what maybe you would never say face to face.

So, I think to be anonymous lets you throw down accumulated stress. It has a positive role. It's like a expression in a drawing: you can to use a black color for whole picture, to shoot there a red tomatoes, to trample all down and to say "Oh, it's I am!" You can anonymously tease any girls, to shout antisemitic slogans, impunity to reject Holocaust (it's just the most radical examples), etc.., to do what just you want -  it gives you part of freedom.
If you use anonymity, you need a freedom! (sorry, it's just my short conclusions, you can do not agree with that :))

Spending your time in virtual space with your real name likely says: you want to say that you are here, you state you are socialised, you involved to the community, or you participate in a social networks for business. etc.
Anyway this all is your real life.  :)
